How Tallahassee Tree Service Got Started
Tallahassee Tree Service was built on a simple idea: homeowners here deserve a tree crew they can actually trust with their biggest, oldest, and most valuable trees. We saw too many properties where "tree guys" with pickup trucks and chainsaws were topping live oaks, butchering palms, and leaving behind stumps, damaged yards, and unfinished jobs. We knew Tallahassee's trees deserved better.
What started as a small crew focused on storm response has grown into a full-service tree care company covering Tallahassee, Leon County, and the surrounding communities from Monticello to Crawfordville. Every crew we run is led by an ISA Certified Arborist, because the difference between good tree work and bad tree work comes down to training. Jake grew up in North Florida climbing the same live oaks he now works on. He started in tree care at 19, hauling brush and learning the saws on summer crews, then spent the next decade and a half running ropes, climbing, and rigging takedowns across the Panhandle before earning his ISA Certified Arborist credential and starting Tallahassee Tree Service out of a single shop with one truck and a wall of Stihl saws. The shop has grown, the trucks have multiplied, and the standard has not moved an inch: every saw on the wall gets sharpened daily, every climbing rope gets inspected before it leaves the rack, and every job gets a written quote before the first cut. Jake still climbs the hard ones himself, still walks every property before quoting, and still answers the phone when the storms roll through. When he is not on a job, he is usually under the hood of one of the trucks or showing his kids the heritage oaks on Miccosukee Road.
